Get To Know The Conscious Brands In Your October Conscious Box

You may be wondering what constitutes as a 'conscious' brand. It may not be obvious on the outset, but perhaps they’ve made a conscious effort to make their operations as sustainable as possible, they could be donating a portion of profits to charity, or as a small business have invested in biodegradable packaging, or maybe they’re supporting local farmers to give a struggling community work.

This month, we wanted to make sure that these stories get told. We want these stories to resonate with you and get us thinking twice about our power to have a conscious impact on the planet and humankind.

Here's a list of the brands you'll find in the October Conscious Box and the reason as to why they've made it in there to begin with!

Loving Earth

It’s great to know that one of our favourite chocolate brands sources produce from Indigenous groups in Mexico, Peru and Australia and is cultivated in such a way that helps restore native ecosystems, prevent erosion and support water conservation without the use of synthetic fertilisers or chemical pesticides. Their pretty packaging is also either compostable or recyclable!

What’s in a name? Prana means the breath of life; a source of energy. It’s an acronym for ‘plant-based, raw, alkaline, natural and organic nutrients’ and with a hashtag like #poweredbyplants, it’s no surprise that PranaOn is all about adopting a plant-based lifestyle for health and environmental reasons, with regular contributions being made to animal welfare projects.

Ceres Organics

We say yes to a distribution chain that is both ecologically and socially responsible! With the majority of their product range being vegan to inspire consumers towards a plant-based diet and minimise greenhouse gas emissions, this company sources quality products that are sustainably-produced by organic or biodynamic methods.

Their super cute packaging is 100% compostable and made from natural materials like sustainably-grown eucalyptus with wrappers free from toxic inks, glues and residues that won’t leach chemicals into the environment. That’s a big tick from us!

Naked Harvest Supplements

Everything from their 100% biodegradable packaging to delivery of product is considered with a more sustainable and environmentally conscious outlook. How good is their ongoing commitment to making small changes which yield big results?!

Organic India

Organic India is all about sustainable farming practices whereby their farmers and tribal wildcrafters are educated in organic and biodynamic agricultural practices. How neat is that? Their tea bags are also plastic-free and made from unbleached filter paper which are both chemical-free and biodegradable.

Think Foods

Giving back to the community, we’re all for the fact that a portion of every purchase is donated to Smiling Mind; Australia's leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing mindfulness-based education, tools and resources for young minds.

Minor Figures

Did you know that oat milk translates to less emissions compared to cow’s milk and less water use compared to almond milk? Ah huh. The main source of greenhouse gas emissions from Australian dairy production comes from methane (emitted by animals). Almonds on the other hand need a lot of water to grow (approximately 4.1L to produce one single almond). Wowzas.

Mindful Foods

This conscious Byron Bay-based brand carefully selects producers to ensure the most nutritious and sustainably-grown food that ends up on your plate! Their products are found in reusable glass jars or home-compostable bags and ingredients are all organic and insecticide-free.

Crafted with local beeswax and certified organic cotton along with natural pine resin and organic coconut oil, Apiwraps make it easier to say goodbye to single-use cling wrap for less waste in the kitchen, fresher produce and longer shelf-life!

Dr Bronner’s

From sourcing the purest organic and fair-trade natural soap ingredients to building relationships with organic farmers and producers to create equitable supply chains and promoting regenerative farming projects (read: better working conditions and water-use reduction) this is one brand we’re totally on board with.

Utilising a bespoke distillation process and handpicked herbal ingredients, ‘conscious’ drinking has never been more on trend, literally and figuratively! In fact, a recent Forbes report showed that overall, millennials are choosing to drink less and instead, prioritise their wellbeing so that they can “show up powerfully to their personal and professional lives.” Sign us up!

Hemp Foods Australia

Hemp Foods Australia is committed to sustainable hemp farming practices, dedicated to less water usage, better soil quality and locally-sourced ingredients where possible. They also get the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) stamp of approval, so you know they’re the real deal!

How We Roll

How eco-friendly is your toilet paper? Now’s the time to check! 100% recyclable, tree-free and made with bamboo, toilet paper subscription service, How We Roll helps plant one tree with every box sold together with non-profit organisation, One Tree Planted.
