Barley is the main grain source in these Eat To Live Oat Barley with Flaxseed cakes. Barley is high in fibre, manganese and selenium as well as B vitamins. These cakes make for a perfect snack or lunch. Load them up with avocado, tomato, tuna and hemp seeds to make a complete meal or a simple smear of nut butter and some sliced banana for a yummy snack. Barley is a gluten containing grain, so it isn't suitable for those avoiding or limiting gluten. However, those who can have it are able to enjoy the benefits, including its dietary fibre, antioxidants and mineral content. Both barley and oats contain the type of soluble fibre known as beta-glucan, which can be beneficial to heart health and lowering cholesterol levels. Along with this, these cakes contain flaxseeds, which are a plant based source of omega-3, a healthy fatty acid that is essential to get through our diet. Not only are they easy and versatile to use. But they are incredibly cheap and the Eat To Live brand also include all those extra vitamins and minerals from the Barley with Flaxseeds. Made with just 4 simple ingredients they make the perfect base for a light meal or snack. I love to top mine with avocado, tuna and greens for a light lunch or when I am craving something sweet I top them with peanut butter and banana, not to mention they are great just on their own.
