Our founder Peta Shulman loves discovering the latest healthy snacks on the market to share and help you make the best food choices for your body. When BSKT sent us their new Vegan Superfood Bar range made with all natural ingredients, she sat down with our Nutritionist Melissa Fine to find out what makes these bars so special compared to the hundreds of others sitting on the supermarket shelf.
Why is this Superfood Bar range better for me?
BSKT Superfood Bars are made with all natural ingredients, you won’t find any artificial nasties here! Unlike many supermarket snack bars, the wholefood ingredients are a well-balanced blend of protein and good fats from the nuts and seeds that keep you feeling satisfied and full. The range is dairy free, gluten free, paleo and vegan and bursting with natural flavour and nutrition.
What are the health benefits of Maca?
I like to think of maca as a nice nutritional booster; for instance this Peruvian superfood gives you a range of vitamins and minerals – from vitamins A, B1-B3, C and D, to minerals like magnesium, calcium and iron. It’s also rich in essential amino acids, the building blocks of protein.
What is Maqui Berry?
A Chilean purple berry that looks a lot like a blueberry, maqui may be small in size but it packs an antioxidant punch. I love its tart flavour too, which pairs perfectly with cacao and coconut.
Can I really get Omega-3 from this Superfood Bar?
You sure can! So if you don’t eat oily fish (like salmon or sardines), omega-3 from plant-based foods – like flaxseed, chia and walnuts – are your next best bet (and even if you’re not vegan, this can be a beneficial addition to the diet). Because omega-3 is an essential fatty acid, I make sure to eat foods rich in the stuff each day…a good excuse to snack on a BSKT Vegan Supergood Maqui Ripe Bar! This baby is loaded with flaxmeal.
