Nutrient Dense Sugar

Coconut sugar is often my choice as a sugar replacement especially when I am baking. It is made from the sap of the flower buds of the coconut palm. Although the calorie and carbohydrate content is similar to white sugar. Coconut sugar is far more nutritionally dense than white sugar. It is full of vitamins, minerals, and fibre as opposed to white sugar which has no nutritional value. This nutritional value means the body converts coconut sugar a lot differently to white sugar.

You can use this Niulife Coconut Sugar in baking to add beautiful sweetness.

One of the better sugars

Less refined and slightly more nutritious than a white or table sugar, coconut sugar is one of the few added sugars I recommend and one of the options that I personally use.

Coconut palm contains important minerals like iron, zinc, potassium and calcium, along with polyphenols and antioxidants. Thankfully, coconut sugar (which comes from coconut palm) does retain some of these nutrients. This means that when we add it to recipes we're also getting a little boost of these beneficial nutrients. Compared to white sugar and other highly processed sweeteners that are virtually nutritionally void, coconut sugar is seen to be a better option.

Like all sugars, I do recommend it in moderation. However, when baking a sweet treat you can use coconut sugar knowing you're getting a slightly better nutrient content.

Great sugar alternative

Coconut sugar is one of my personal favourite replacements for white or brown sugar. Unlike sugar it is not processed and comes from the coconut meaning, the vitamin and mineral content may also be higher than white sugar.

I use it often when baking however I’m always mindful that it is still a sugar and will cause spikes in your blood sugar levels so best to use sparingly.

Coconut nectar is collected from the flower of the coconut tree just before the nut is formed. The delicious nectar is dehydrated and made into crystals which can be used in the same way as regular sugar.
