Global activewear queen Lorna Jane Clarkson has built an empire of over 200 stores worldwide and a brand that is universally loved and celebrated. However, we all know Rome wasn't built in a day, so when Lorna Jane released her new book 'Love You' which centres on the road to success and ultimately self love, we knew it was going to be a winner!

Lorna shares real stories, including the difficult times, to help bring positive change to your life, inspire you to step out of your comfort zone, follow your dreams and live life at one hundred percent.

We were so inspired by the book at GMB HQ that not only did we create a very special Love You GoodnessMe Box, filled with Lorna's favourite health products, we sat down with Lorna to ask some burning questions.

What was the driver behind your new book Love You?

I wanted to write about self-love because I wanted to inspire women to stop and think about where they are going with their lives, to instill in them the importance of taking care of themselves and to show them that they CAN bring about positive change in their lives.

I believe that self-love is important because everything good in your life starts with how YOU think and feel about yourself and I want to encourage ALL women to invest in themselves, back themselves, challenge themselves and ultimately love and believe in themselves enough to create a life that they love.

Where do we begin to stop the endless cycle of busy-ness in our day-to-day lives and why is this so important?

It’s really quite simple. We just need to find 5 minutes every day to ask ourselves what we want to do with our lives and what we are doing to make it happen.

Why is stepping out of our comfort zone and facing our fears critical to achieve our goals?

As scary as it might seem at the time, any real change in our lives means stepping outside of our comfort zone – because if we don’t challenge ourselves we will never grow, and challenging yourself is the only way you will know what you are truly capable of. You don’t need to take a giant leap out of your comfort zone - even small steps will help build your confidence and take you closer to your goals.

Embarking on the unknown can be pretty scary. I’m a big believer to ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’. How do you overcome your fears when you have a big dream?

I try to use that fear to channel my energy in a positive way and harness that to push through any challenges. I like to remind myself that fear is just a feeling and I am capable of handling anything life throws at me.

You say in the book that it is perfectly okay for people to dislike you or think that you’re crazy. As women, why do you think we often feel the need to be liked, in business and in life, and how can we overcome this?

I think most people want to be liked - they want to fit in and be popular. I don’t think it’s necessarily a female thing but a human thing.

We can overcome this by working on our self -confidence, self -love and self-belief. Because when we love and believe in ourselves we will be less focused in what other people think about us.

How important is passion and doing what you love versus a good idea when starting a business?

I think you need all of those things when you’re starting a business but it’s the passion and love for what you do that will keep you going through your most challenging times and ultimately get you to the finish line.

Why are good habits so important to achieve our dreams and what are your top five non-negotiable habits to keep you on track?

When it comes to success in life, consistency is key. It is just as important as passion and commitment - in fact I think that if you’re not consistent then you can run the risk of losing it all. It’s what we do every day that impacts our lives and good habits set us up for success.

I have just three main non-negotiable habits and these are Move, Nourish and Believe:

  1. I Move my body every day.
  2. I Nourish my body with good food.
  3. I Believe anything is possible when you have a positive mindset and are willing to work for it.

What is your morning routine?

I like to be up early (without an alarm when I can) to make the most of every day;

  • I start with 10 minutes of meditation and write in my gratitude journal.
  • I put on my activewear – laying my outfit out the night before so I have no excuses!
  • I make a quick smoothie (as I am always starving when I wake up) and head out the door to do some exercise – this is either yoga, strength training, a hike or a Hitt workout.

After my workout I meet Bill and we take Roger (our dog) for a walk around the block. Then it’s home for a shower, emails over breakfast and then I head into work to start the day!

What do you do to take care of your mental health?

  • I Meditate and practice yoga daily.
  • Try and maintain balance in my life.
  • Spend time out in nature and with people who support and inspire me.

What is your favourite quote that makes you feel most empowered?

Never never never give up.
