Gluten Free Staple Flour

If you're gluten intolerant or sensitive, buckwheat flour will become a staple in your baking. Heck, even if you're not it probably will too - I know it has become a much used ingredient in my kitchen!

With a mild nutty flavour, buckwheat flour comes from a highly nutritious grain that has a good fibre and protein content. Along with these macronutrients, it also contains a number of micronutrients, particularly trace minerals like manganese, copper, phosphorous, iron and magnesium.

Generally a combination of buckwheat flour and another gluten free flour can easily replace a normal flour, but you'll be getting even more nutritional benefits by making the swap.

Despite its name, buckwheat is actually the fruit of a plant related to rhubarb and sorrel.

Buckwheat flour is used in Eastern Europe to make blinis, in the US to make crepes and pancakes and in Asia to make Japanese soba noodles.

How to use: The rich flavour of Ceres Organics Buckwheat Flour complements many recipes and elevates the mundane to the interesting.
