It is a pure carbohydrate and commonly used to thicken sauces, soups, stews and baking goods such as bread, biscuits and much more. Nutritionally it is a great source of iron, calcium however compared to other grains it is essentially considered an 'empty calorie.' Lucky for us, it is only used in small amounts so in my opinion is still absolutely fine to add in these small amounts. Loading... It's best when combined with other gluten free flours and can improve the structure and texture of the recipe. Tapioca starch is generally used in small quantities, so this bag will last you a while, giving you bang for your buck. It also has natural thickening properties, meaning it can be used in the same way potato starch or corn starch are used to thicken sauces, soups and stews.Free from preservatives and added nasties, this Tapioca Flour from Ceres Organics is another great product from this reputable brand.
